As the sun dipped below the horizon, Churchill's words about the Battle of Britain echoed over the white Dover cliffs:

"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."

HISTORY

the BATTLE OF BRITAIN

The Horizon Collection is inspired by the Battle of Britain, a pivotal moment in WWII, fought in the skies above the White Cliffs of Dover during the summer of 1940. These strategically vital cliffs formed Britain’s front line as the RAF rose to defend the nation against the German Luftwaffe. Britain stood alone, its fate hanging in the balance.

This airborne conflict wasn’t just a military campaign. It became a symbol of resilience, unity, and quiet determination. A moment in history when the odds were high, and the response was courage.

Watching from below, the White Cliffs of Dover stood as a silent icon. Visible from both sides of the Channel, they became a powerful symbol of hope, home, and everything worth protecting.

These themes are brought into the design of the Horizon Collection. From the triangle at 12 o’clock to the textures and colours of the dial, every detail carries a story - one that connects heritage with a forward-looking spirit.

The caseback

The Battle of Britain sector clock was a crucial tool used by RAF operations rooms during World War II to track enemy aircraft and coordinate defensive strategies. Split into coloured segments (red, yellow, and blue) it helped plot movements across five-minute intervals, allowing commanders to respond with precision. This clock wasn't just functional but it became a symbol of coordination, vigilance, and resilience. Elements of its design are subtly brought into the Horizon watch:

Swan & Edgar’s custom font at 12 is inspired by the clock’s distinctive typeface.

The Horizon’s 18-carat gold plated (10-microns) triangular marker at 12 is a refined tribute to the vital flight path indicators on the Battle of Britain clock.

The iconic White Cliffs of Dover were the creative spark behind both Horizon dials. The Mineral Musou Horizon features a natural white quartz stone dial, naturally grained, subtly translucent, and shaped to echo the raw texture of the chalk cliffs. In contrast, the Blue Horizon captures the shimmering, shifting tones of the English Channel with a deep fumé kiln-fired enamel finish. Both dials are constructed with layered elements that evoke the dramatic depth and elevation of the coastline, bringing the spirit of landscape and elevation to the wrist.

Both Horizon models showcase the iconic colours of the Battle of Britain clock. The Mineral Musou date numerals shift daily through yellow, red, and blue, a quiet, evolving detail that adds a sense of renewal with each passing day. This model also features the signature gold triangle. The Blue Enamel Horizon offers a more understated nod: a vivid red tip on the seconds hand, a customised blue date wheel, and a yellow gold triangle. Together, these design elements embody a legacy in motion.

COLOURS OF THE
TRIANGLE

The Horizon’s caseback showcases a sculpted 3D silhouette of the Dover Cliffs. This is brought to life with contrast deep-polished and sandblasted finishes, capturing the cliffs’ dramatic beauty and the watch’s meticulous craftsmanship.
